“My 4 year old son is currently an inpatient and recovering from serious abdominal surgery. He was having a bad day today and refusing to walk. The dogs were a good motivation for him to walk, possibly the only motivation we could find. He actually loves dogs but due to poor mental state today, he took a while to warm up to them. Once he did, he immediately cheered up and smiled. He really enjoyed meeting the dogs – he walked and sat in different positions to be with the dogs which are all great for his recovery. As for me the caregiver, I nearly cried at my son finally looking happy so thank you thank you, it was a wonderful experience and could not have been better timed 🙂
I also wanted to say that the amazing experience was not just down to the dogs, but also the lovely staff. The lady looking after Elsie the dog was wonderful and really patient with my son, talking to him and encouraging him to give Elsie snacks. My son initially said he didn’t want to (but secretly did). Nonetheless she was patient and encouraging. This enabled him to feed Elsie snacks, and then walk which is amazing. So a big thank you to her because she really helped him too!”
