There is an increasing demand for animal-assisted interactions and interventions (AAI) in Singapore, but standardised guidelines and training for handlers and animals are lacking.
These gaps pose risks to public health, safety, animal welfare, and to the reputation of the growing field of AAI. We set up The Dogtors to address these systemic issues in the field of AAI.
We are Singapore’s first non-profit organisation specialising in animal-assisted interactions and interventions. We seek meaningful and life-giving interactions between humans and animals, working and growing towards better, healthier communities, together.
We seek to build a holistic ecosystem in the field of animal-assisted interactions/interventions comprising education, training, services, programmes, research and professional guidelines.
To do this, we employ a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to providing high standards of evidence-based education, training and services in the field of animal-assisted interactions and interventions.
