“Catholic Welfare Services (CWS) engaged the services of The Dogtors to bring its canine-assisted activities to the elderly residents of its three nursing homes. One of the homes is Saint Theresa’s Home, where 45 residents experienced first-hand the joy of canine-assisted activities for three months.
Based on my observations, the weekly sessions improved the mood and energy levels of our residents who eagerly looked forward to meet their newfound furry friends! They loved hugging, petting, playing fetch, bingo, feeding and carrying out other activities with these wonderful animals. All the dogs in this program are well trained and very obedient. The dogs seemed to ‘understand’ our elderly residents.
The two representatives (Adele & Sarah) and all the dog handlers were very professional and obliging. This is the first time that CWS nursing homes are trying out this sort of activities and the results are very encouraging. No wonder, it is said that ‘dogs are man’s best friend’!
Keep up the excellent work, Dogtors. 😊”
